From a son of D’Artanian paired to a daughter of the 1st National Ace Sprint KBDB — Zwols distance crossed onto Belgian sprint
FIRST ROUND 2026 · PIONEER D’ARTANIAN 088 × PIONEER GUSTAVE GIRL
A son of D’Artanian paired to a daughter of the 1st National Ace Sprint KBDB — Zwols distance crossed onto Belgian sprint
TIER 1 · PAIRING DOSSIER The full analysis of what this pairing produces
THE PAIRING
A deliberate collision of two very different disciplines. The cock is a direct son of D’Artanian, the Frans Zwols cock responsible for thirteen first prizes at National, Amal and Combine level. The hen is a granddaughter of Olympic Gustave XIV out of a hen who was 1st National Ace Sprint KBDB in 2023 and 1st Olympiad Sprint for Belgium — the fastest sprint blood available anywhere.
Nothing is shared between the two sides. Youngsters combine Dutch long-distance breeding depth with contemporary Belgian sprint speed.
The Cock — GB19B31088 "Pioneer D’Artanian 088"
Blue · Stock Cock · Zwols · Bred by Zwols Pigeons
A son of D’Artagian × Sweet Princess.
D’Artanian (NL07-1230197) — direct Frans Zwols, and one of the top breeding cocks in the UK. He is responsible for 13 × 1st at National, Amal and Combine level, including 1st against 19,476 birds, 3 × 1st NFC, 3 × 1st BICC, 1st BBC, 2 × 1st Amal up to 5,500 birds and 4 × 1st Combine. His own sire is Dutch Prince, sire of the 3 Musketiers and sire or grandsire of at least fifty first prizes; his dam is De Diamant, dam or grandam of at least a hundred.
Sweet Princess (NL08-2134593) — dam of 6th, twice 11th, 12th, 14th and 24th in races between 5,552 and 19,937 birds, and grandam of many winners including 1st National Agen and 55th International against 22,000 birds, and 1st Open NFC St Philbert. Her sire is 778, one of the 3 Musketiers, who won three 2nd prizes from fields between 6,926 and 14,940 birds; her dam is Francien, dam or grandam of three 1sts against 10,000+ birds.
In short: both of the cock’s parents are proven producers at the very top of the Zwols family — D’Artanian above, the 3 Musketiers line below.
The Hen — GB25N48917 "Pioneer Gustave Girl"
Blue Hen · Zwols / Thibaut-Boons · Bred by Zwols Pigeons, from John Gladwin
Dam (BE23-1098366) — an exceptional sprint hen: 1st Olympiad Sprint (cat A) Belgium 2023, 1st National Ace KBDB Sprint 2023, 6th National Ace KBDB Sprint 2022, 2nd Ace World Best Sprint KBDB 2023, 1st Ace Sprint Vx. Epr Ht./Bw. 2023 and 4th Ace Sprint Y. Epr Ht./Bw. 2022. Her sire Olympic Gustave XIV (BE21-1090384) won 29 first prizes and was himself 1st Olympiad Sprint (cat A) Belgium 2023 and 1st National Ace Sprint KBDB 2023.
Sire (GB20N60145) — "the 145", a good racer inland who scored 6th and 28th Open National. His first youngster at stock took 25th Open BICC and won inland by two and a half minutes from 115 miles. His own sire is Simply The Best (GB17B19461), sire of 1st Combine Le Mans at 246 miles as a yearling; his dam (GB17B19481) is bred for stock direct from a brother-and-sister pairing out of D’Artagian and Dream Girl 200.
In short: world-class sprint on the bottom line, with a Zwols top line that quietly reinforces the cock’s D’Artanian blood.
